Worship in Caracas

Today we worshiped in two churches. In the morning we attended the worship service at "Iglesia Bautista." We only had to sing two songs. Joining us was another church from Canada that had another STM team. Their pastor gave the message. After service the members of the church cook lunch for everyone. This church has about 40-50 people including children. Mostly are women. But in spite of the lack of man (or woman) power they whipped out food very quickly. That is thanks for the commercial wok stove that puts out mega btu's that cook things very fast.

In the afternoon, we went to "Iglesia De Cristo" which is the other Chinese church in Caracas. Our team took over their entire service. Our team split up and we taught 3 separate Sunday Schools. Their Sunday School normally starts at 3pm and their service at 4:0pm. I taught their young people and I had a marvelous time. These guys/gals were so right on and we had great time sharing and learning on 1 Sam 26.

Photobucket

After the Sunday School we lead worship and Pastor Stanley gave the message. I translated to Spanish. I think I did better than last time because Stanley used more conversational Cantonese. This was the second time I translated this message, but I still got a blessing from it.

Photobucket

After the service, they gave us hats and again: food. They cooked dinner and we again had a great time talking and sharing.

When we got back to "Iglesia Bautista" we had our last briefing. However, Kenny and I tried to play a prank on Dr Wan. We wanted him to sing a song and do hand movements for "InRight, OutRight, UpRight and DownRight." He very smoothly talked out of singing, but we got him to do the hand movements. We had a lot of laugh and we also took a video which we will post later.

So here am I, typing these last words from Venezuela. Hope that we had a safe trip back home tomorrow and after that, we are going to have to discuss and evaluate our long term missions strategy. However, we owe this trip to Dr Wan. Without his leadership and help we would had never have this experience and for that we are thankful. So here's is to Dr Wan.

Beach Day

Today we went to the beach. It was a 1 hour drive from Caracas. Caracas is build on a plateau in the mountains. So to go to the beach you need to come down the mountain. The beach that we went is next to the airport. We went with another Short Term Missions group from Toronto. They were 5 members in this group. They Iglesia Bautista invited few non-believers families to come with us. The purpose is to share the gospel with them. Few of us had diarrhea. It looks like the food that we ate at the bus stop yesterday was not very good. Please pray for Dr Wan as he had it the worst.

Photobucket

It was a very nice beach with big waves. They have two wave breakers that protected the beach. We played with the waves and then sit around, talk and take naps. Several of us had the opportunity to share the gospel with these non-believers.

Photobucket

At night, the other Chinese Church in Caracas "Iglesia de Dios," invited us for dinner. We are staying at the Iglesia Bautista. We had a very nice time talking to them and getting to know them. Afterward, Toby, Daniel, Kenny and I had time to practice our songs for Tomorrow.

Arrival in Caracas

We left Barquisimeto after saying goodbye to all the brothers and sisters in Barquisimeto. We are so thankful to be able to meet them and work with them. Hopefully we will have an opportunity to work together again.

Photobucket

We arrived safely in Caracas. The bus ride was pretty good. We rode a two level bus, but the AC was set to -10 F. It was so cold that everyone was shivering inside the bus. The bus has inside entertainment and they showed "Iron Man" in Spanish. Yes, and you can hear the public laugh and get up and go to the bathroom.

Now the bus service, they run it like it was an airline company. They have check-in and ID identification, security checkpoints and luggage check-in/check-out. They even have an conveyor belt for the luggage. The driver has an uniform that looked like an airline pilot. The only thing missing was the hostess.

We arrived in Caracas and we eat at the church. The church members cooked for us. After that we had a prayer meeting and we shared our experiences in Barquisimeto. The church in Barquisimeto is a sister church to the one in Caracas. So they were glad to see that we helped them. After that we split up and pray. I prayed with Lilia, Mimie and another young man in Spanish. They shared that there are less than 300 Chinese Christians in Venezuela. The Chinese population is about 160,000 in this country. There are only 4 Chinese pastors in Venezuela. So please pray for Venezuela as the need for minister is sorely needed.

Thrusday

We started the day with breakfast in our favorite restaurant Hing Fai when we heard from Grace that Mr Tong has passed away. We previously meet his brother and his sister-in-law at Hing Fai on our second day in Barquisimeto. We prayed with his brother for Mr Tong because he was in the ICU for 4 months due to car accident that damaged to all internal organs. After we heard the news we went to the hospital to pay him our respects. It was a sad moment for the family and Pastor Stanley said a prayer of hope since Mr Tong is a believer as well as some of his family. All of us felt God's timing for us to be here and have an opportunity to touch the lives of these people in such a time. As we visited them, pray for them and just be there, we all hope it encouraged them and helped some of them to become believers. Please pray for this family.

After lunch we continued some more music training and Pastor and Kenny did more visitation.

For dinner we went to 5th uncle house. It was a small house about 20 minutes away. They cooked a lot of food and it was great! We loved the patio chicken: tough but so tasty.

Photobucket

Photobucket

After dinner we then went to the funeral of Mr Tong. Mr Tong is going to be buried tomorrow. They gave each of us a napkin, two candies and $2000 Bolivares. The napkin symbolizes something to dry our tears, the candy symbolizes to help sweeten the moment and the money is just to express their thanks for us to be there.

Photobucket

This was our last day in Barquisimeto. In retrospect, our stay here seemed to have gone very fast. I can't believe that we are leaving tomorrow. We have developed new friendships, done a lot of work and ministry with the "Iglesia Nueva Jerusalem" and visited a lot of people. I am going to miss them because they have been so nice and generous.

Wednesday

Today we did some more visitation again. We rely on help from the church members to bring us around town. So we are taking a lot of time from Brother Keung and 5th uncle. We are thankful for them also for their work.

Anyways, Stanley and I went back to see Mr Sun again. This time his wife was there. She is a believer and has tried for many years to convert her husband to Christianity. We had a good talk. However, this small grocery store was very busy. People were coming constantly and there was not a single moment when Mr Ng was not handling the cashier. But his wife helped, and she relieved him from this duty, allowing us to talk to him some more. We gave him a VCD, and tracks and we prayed for him. We hope that he reads them and find his way to God. We also got the contact information for his children that live in Houston. Hopefully we can do some contacts and develop a way to follow up with Mr Sun.

After that we went back to church and we had a simple lunch: bread. Kenny went and bought all this bread. While we lived in frugality Leo and Dr Wan had sushi. So we believe that we set a better example by the way we chose our meals. I heard that Leo and Dr Wan were so hungry that they were ready to faint and the closest thing that was available was sushi so it was a necessity not a luxury. So brother Keung was oblige to treat them since they had no money. When we heard about it, none of us felt any jealousy. In fact we were all glad that such meal was such a blessing for them. ;)

Photobucket

We came back to the hotel hoping to use the internet but it was down since last night and I just got it back this morning. We returned to church around 3:00pm and we stopped by Hing Fai to order some food to go. Then we had another worship training session in which we taught the youth songs and worked with they way they played.

After dinner Leo gave a session on Fellowship while Daniel, Kenny, Toby and I had another session on the guidelines of worship. We share how long we practice, the requirements of a worship members and the need for a personal walk with Christ.

Photobucket

The church presented us some gifts of appreciation. They gave each of us a T-shirt and some snacks. We really appreciate this church for their kindness. Afterwards we had musical training in which we learned and taught them few new songs.

5/13/08 Day 5 at Barquisimeto

Vicente, Leo and I started the day jogging at 6:15am. The streets were quiet and cool but already bright. In Barquisimeto, sunrise is about 5:15am. Hard to keep up with Vicente and we jogged for about 2 miles. It took 15 minutes but felt like an hour!

We went to our favorite restaurant Hing Fai for breakfast before heading back to church for our morning devotion. Dr Wan, Pastor Stanley, Vicente and I shared a table. Pastor Stanley ordered 2 big bowls of plain porridge and a plate of plain chee-cheong fun. Funny! I think these few days of over-indulgence in food finally struck a chord in his conscience. Hmmm, I wonder if the fact that Virginia was trying unsuccessfully to get him to speak on the phone for the past 2 days has anything to do with this! He is a really very likeable pastor and we all loved him.

We take turns to lead morning devotion. Today Alison led us on Exodus 3:11-14 and Exodus 4:1, 10-17. Moses gave 5 excuses to God of not wanting to lead the Israelites out of Eqypt after he was chosen by God. In many ways, all of us were like Moses in this passage. We learned about how important it is to obey our God when He calls us. We also see the grace of God was with Moses despite his disobedience. It was a very good devotion.

Brother Keung joined us when we shared in depth about our experiences and observations on the shop visitations the prior day. All in all, everyone feels that we need to visit these folks one more time on Thursday to follow up before we leave Barquisimeto. We also gave some constructive feedback to Brother Keung about our observations of the church’s small group, Sunday School and fellowship structure and proposed some alignment to these activities to make them more effective. Brother Keung also revealed that he will need to undergo surgery to one of his eyes with cataract as he is losing vision in it. This came as a surprise to us. We ended the session praying for him. Each of us prayed for a specific leader serving in the local church.

Lunch is a little special today. We wanted to taste local cuisine. Brother Keung brought us to Areperas La 28, a block away from the rented church. Most of the shops in this area does not have A/C. Seems like this eatery has been around for many years as it looked old and the layout reminded me of a sushi bar. The different little food trays were inside a long row of glass enclosure where people can sit at stools in front of it and order their food. There were 2 trays of squids with vegetables, potato salad, coleslaw like stuff, shredded chicken, chicken inards, beef, some dont-know-what black stuff, fried plantains and many other. I ordered a fried grande (large) plantain and arepas (flour wrap) with shredded chicken and chicken inards. They are really good.

Later, Vicente, Daniel, Toby and myself came back to church to conduct music training for the kids. Vicente taught Allen drums, Toby taught Adolfo keyboard while I taught Lilia bass. It was a good one-to-one session.

Later, we joined the rest of the group for dinner at Restaurant Lucky. Vicente, Daniel and I rode at the back of Samy’s truck. Bumpy but fun.

For the night session, Alison and I conducted the Children Sunday School for adults. We had 12 attendees cramped into half the room size of about our office. Most of these teachers are young adults, probably in the college age group. Their Sunday School has about 5 kids from the age group of 5-6 years old and 3 of the age group 7-9. We had a good interactive session with them and shared our experiences of teaching Sunday School. Sandra, a Hispanic lady just joined to be their Sunday School coordinator and brought with her years of teaching experience. Alison and I learned that not all their Sunday School teachers are Christians and many do not have much experience teaching kids but have the passion to do so. Some of them also do not attend church when they are not on duty teaching Sunday School. We covered many important topics of children Sunday School which includes requirements, roles and responsibilities of a Sunday School teacher, effective teaching techniques, answering many of their questions concerning the challenges they face as a Sunday School teacher and recommending some things that they could do to improve their program. Thank you to Alice and Sibyl for providing us materials which we left with them. They really appreciate it. We ended with a prayer. Hopefully, God will use Sandra and the teachers to help grow this ministry.

Tuesday

Today was a slower day for us after all fast pace work that we have done in the last couple of days. To start the day, Kenny, Leo and I went running. We found a big avenue that is pretty clean and we ran for two miles. It was a first for Kenny and Leo while for me, it left me wanting for more. However, we do need them healthy and not in pain for the rest of the trip so I did not push them that hard.

We had a meeting with Brother Keung and we discussed the results of our visitation yesterday. We had a good discussion and that helped us plan for continuing our visitation tomorrow and Thrusday.

We meet again at our favorite restaurant, Hing Fai, for more great food. However, it seems that our $$$ is getting low so we offered to wash the dishes. But the owner threaten us with .... just kidding. But we took a group picture to let you see that we aet happily and stayed in one piece.

Photobucket

After that, Kenny, Toby, Daniel and I had some down time and went back to the hotel. We hang around in the stairway, because that is where we had the best wifi reception. Leo, Alison, You-Kin and Edith were at Brother's Keung home working on his computer.

Photobucket

We went back to church to start another worship training at 3:00pm. We knew that the kids were busy with school, but three came inspite of it. So we taught Lily to play bass, and Toby taught Adolfo to play the keyboard.

After dinner, I came back to the hotel to prepare my devotion for Friday, read Stanley's next sermon and do this blog, while the rest of the team went back to church to train Sunday School Teachers. The response was very good. They had over 20 people show up and seemed like they had a good

Monday

Today was a visitation day. Stanley, Kenny, Daniel and I went to visit Mr Sun who owns a small convenience store in a nicer neighborhood. His wife and his children are Christian and his daughter lives in Houston. Pastor did most the talking, but he was so busy because there were so many people buying stuff and he was also taking delivery of new inventory. So after we decided to come back another day. So please pray for this man

Coming back to our favorite restaurant to meet with the rest of the team, we stopped by a store owned by this shop owner next to the restaurant. He was quite friendly and we had a good conversation. We invited him to come to church, we gave him an VCD and we promised to come back to give him a Bible. After that we talked about his business and his relationship with the local police. He said that they take "protection money", but he did not mind. He said that he is good friend with him and he knows that they have not been paid for 3 years. He also said that teaches has not been paid for 18 months. So how do these people survive? Crime.

After lunch Leo taught a session on how to use computer. We helped them in basic stuff on how to use the computer. Time flied and then it was time for dinner.

After dinner we head back to church and Daniel taught a lesson on the Heart of Worship. I taught a lesson on AV. I also did the translation. After that we asked their worship band to perform to see if we can offer any help. The youth band played and they sounded very good. We gave them some suggestions. Then the adult group played and they were very good too. We gave them a few tips and suggestions. Overall, I think that their worship was very good. Here is a picture of their youth playing.

Day 4: Barquisimeto

Wishing a very belated Happy Mother's Day to all our moms back home.

We had a really good Cantonese breakfast at our morning hangout: Hing Fai restaurant. We had extremely good Cantonese style buns, chee cheong fun, different kinds of yummy porridge. I have a feeling that we will visit this restaurant at least 2 more times before we leave Barquisimeto this Friday! After that we headed to get our morning fix: the famous Venezuela coffee. Who says that missions trip is all hard work? :)

Photobucket

We headed back to church to do our morning devotion. Today, Leo led us. It was about how Isaiah responded "Here I am. Send me" to God's calling of him. It was a good discussion. After that, we split into 3 groups to do home and shop visitations, people identified by Brother Leung, Mei and 5th uncle. The first group is led by Dr Wan, comprising of Toby and Leo. The 2nd group consists of Alison, You-Kin, Edith. The other group was led by Pastor Stanley, Vicente, Daniel and myself.

Photobucket

5th uncle (also a leader in the church) drove us to visit Mr Sun. He owns a shop in a well-to-do neighborhood here in Barquisimeto. It was about a 20 minute drive away from the church. 5th uncle told us that they visited him a few times, each time he pushed his wife in front to talk to him since she is a believer. Since his wife (Ming Kit) is in the US visiting their children in Houston and will be back only tonight, it gives us a good opportunity to talk to him directly. He is a rather nice man and Pastor Stanley had a good talk with him. His shop is so busy and he works the register constantly while Pastor Stanley and 5th uncle chatted with him and encouraged him to attend church and learn more about the love of God in between customers paying. The plan is to visit him one more time when his wife returns so that we can have a less busy time chatting with him and we want to present him some relevant tracts and Christian magazines. Pastor Stanley did a great job talking with Mr Sun.

Photobucket

At a push-cart style vendor outside Mr Sun's shop, Vicente and I bought some lovely mangoes and guava (pink flesh as we found out later) to savor the local tropical fruits. Now you are getting envious that you didn't come with us, right? :) With some time on our hands while heading back to lunch (you guess it right. Restaurant Hing Fai. yummy!), we stopped to chat with the Mr Ng in his shop 2 shops away from our lunch rendevouz. He is a very affiable man, willing to talk to us when asked about whether he attends church. He mentioned that he doesn't but stumbles on some references on the bible from the tracts he read before and doesn't know where to find the answers to some of the questions he has. We sense that he doesn't have a bible to cross reference the verses in the tracts. We gave him a VCD on yan-yee-chee-sing (not chee-cheong-fun. Don't know Chinese, so please pardon) we took along from the unused ACC table-tennis tournament welcome packets. He was grateful and promised to view it with his wife. My prayer is that God will use this to change his life. We also intend to drop by to present him a bible in the next day or so.

Photobucket

On the topic of the yan-yee-chee-sing VCDs we brought along, Alison and Edith gave one to 亞海 (these characters I cut and paste from earlier blog) on their visitation. We will hear more from the other teams' vistations in our morning devotion tomorrow. Remember 亞海, the young man who was left paralyzed by a gunshot to his spine? The VCD has a life-story of a very successful man who became a paraplegic and how God changed his life. I believe many of you have watched this already. We hope that this VCD will tell him that God can empower him with His love and strength as he struggles with unsurmountable difficulties and challenges ahead of him. I pray that he can continue to find hope in our loving God. Who would imagine that by bringing these VCDs that we could bless the right person here in Barquisimeto? We prayed before the trip many times as a team that God will prepare the hearts of the people here and use the team to do His will to reach out to the people here. What happened in 亞海's case clearly demonstrated God's sovreignty for all to behold. He answered our prayers and prepared the way well in advance of us coming. What a mighty God we serve!

Oh, by the way, we had a sumptous lunch at Restaurant Hing Fai. No, you can't check its menu by googling it, sorry. You have to come here :) I also stick to my earlier comment that we will visit this restaurant 2 more times before we leave.

Didn't have time to post blog on other activities following our lunch. We will try our best to do so tomorrow.
-Kenny

Worship

Happy Mother's Day

I felt a lot better today. After a good night sleep and some Imodioum, I am starting to get back to normal. Today we lead the entire worship service at the "Iglesia Nueva Jerusalem." We walked to church early in the morning where we had a devotion time together. Toby shared with us a passage about asking anything in prayer. We had a great discussion and everybody shared. After that we practice for worship. We stayed at church basically the whole day.

Around noon they brought us food and invited us to eat at the roof top. They have a canopy and they surrounded the building edge with a fence to make a large outdoor area for fellowship and it was really nice. The breeze make it cool and view was spectacular. Very nice place to sit around and talk. Daniel finally arrived and I was so glad to see him any my luggage. I was finally able to have a new set of clothes.

Their worship service starts at 3:00pm and then it is followed with a Sunday School and Youth fellowship. I think we did pretty good leading songs. I think the response was very good and people sang enthusiastically. You-Kin and Allison gave their testimonies and I was their translator. I have to say that being a translator is very difficult job, specially since I am not as quick with my Spanish as before (I tend to be slow to remember the words). After that, Pastor got up and spoke. His message was basically a gospel message and it was a very good message. He gave the invitation at the end of his message for people to accept Christ. Praise God, there were 8 people who raised their hands. Afterwards we invited them to come forward so that we can pray for them, but only one lady came. But anyways, we do need to pray for these new believers and hope that they learn their ways to Christ. I have to say that the place was packed and we were so glad that so many people came and had a chance to hear the gospel.

They also had a special Mother's Day service. They gave gift to all the mothers and had some desserts afterward. We had a great time talking to people and getting to know them. A 亞海 came also and Pastor had a time to visit him. I did not get a chance to talk to him but I know that he was one of the persons who raised his hand.

I joined the youth fellowship which was very simple. They sang songs without instruments and in their song books were full of Cantonese Songs. In fact the whole program was done in Cantonese! I was so impressed on how these kids as so good in Cantonese. In fact there was one girl who was not that good but she made the effort to speak anyways. Charlie lead us in an ice breaking game and the he lead us in devotion. We had an excellent discussion about "What is sin?" We had three visitors and one of them was very open. Pastor shared too and I was glad he was there, because he helped a lot as a counselor. That facilitated the discussion in the right way but at the same time it was very open and free. This group has great dynamics and they are very open to each other.

The church leaders treat us for dinner at the "Lucky Star" restaurant. We have three tables and we spread around and intermixed so that we have a better chance to know each other. We had a great discussion on how husbands need to woo their wives. Dr Wan was very bold to say things like that but it was very helpful because we all need to do this to make our wives happy. Food came kind of slow but that gave us time to get to know them and talk.

We ended the day back in the hotel with a debriefing meeting. Dr Wan is tough and he is not afraid to say things that need to be done better. But we appreciate and respect his wisdom and advice so that we can improve. Overall, it was a hectic day but Praise God for the 8 new souls in Christ.

Visitation to 亞海

In the afternoon on the 3rd day, Edith, YK, Alison and Leo went with Keung (Barquisimeto’s church leader) to visit a young man called 亞海 who is a new Christian. Like most Chinese immigrant here, 亞海and his family is from恩平, a county about 60 miles from Guangzhou. 6 months ago, he was injured at the spiral cord by gun shot in a robbery at his Chinese BBQ shop. He was paralyzed on both legs. Physical Therapy has not helped so far. At times, his 2 knees are so painful that no pain killer can help. Due to lack of movement, his leg muscles have shrunk to ½ of the original size. We can tell he is very discouraged as he lies down mostly. Other than listening to him and his family, we do not really know how to provide much more words of encouragement. The following hand-written hymn was posted in front of the bed on the 2nd floor of the store where he is living now. When Keung sang the song, we were moved to see that 亞海sang along softly, filled with emotion. The words of the hymn “My Lord looked after me” is an encouragement to him and to all of us. At the end, we held hands and pray together asking God’s mercy for this brother of Christ.

Walking the streets of Barquisimeto

We set out at 7:30am this morning to walk the "Calle 31" street to observe and understand the local culture. This is the Chinatown of Barquisimeto where many peddlers hawk their vegetables, meat, fish for sale. It is a very busy place. Also, many Chinese would come down from neighboring small towns on Saturdays to buy their weekly groceries. Reminded me of us Austinites going over to Houston to eat our dim-sum and buy our groceries before My Thanh existed! Brother Keung's family (wife Yin-Mei and their two teenage sons, Allen and Tommy) prayed with us as we set out expectantly to observe the busyness of the activities and distribute tracts to the locals. We split into 2 groups, one led by Dr Wan and the other by Pastor Stanley. Dr Wan's group consists of Toby, Leo, Alison, Vicente, Allen, Tommy and Mei while Pastor Stanley's group consists of You-Kin, Edith, Bro. Keung and myself.

Our group took one side of the street and went into several shops owned by Chinese immigrants. Edith did a marvellous job showing me especially how to strike a casual conversation leading into asking if the person knows about the local church and about the Good News. I learned so much from her boldness and enthusiasm in sharing the gospel. The one thing I treasured most is that she treated the tracts as something so precious and only give it out only if the person promised to read it. Although being the smallest physically, she is a giant in the Lord. She is my Heronias! Pastor Stanley and I talked to a young man who doesn't go to church but we encouraged him to go and listen to God's words. Like many 2nd generation locals, they only speak Cantonese but cannot read/write Chinese. Spanish is their preferred choice of language. I managed to hang out a little longer explaining to the young man about the importance of salvation and how the gospel can be the strength of our lives. I don't know how this will all turn out for the young man, and just like many of the Chinese here, they are so busy working (life isn't easy) and have little time for anything else. We just sow seeds and know that God will work in the hearts of these people in His due time. On the streets there, I paused to reflect how Jesus would see each of them as they hurried away in their busy lives. Jesus must have felt the compassion for these people and I caught a glimpse of His compassion for the lost souls. There are so many out there. More than 10,000 Chinese in Barquisimeto with only one Chinese church whose attendance hovers around 40-50 (maybe?). I wished that many of our ACC brothers and sisters could come and share in the work. For indeed, the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few.

We ended up eating dim-sum in a local restaurant. Food was indeed yummy. I treasured the time the team shared later about their individual experience on the streets of Barquisimeto. A treasure that is ours to be kept.

Day 3

To continue Kenny's post, we also visited some families which had sick members. One brother was in the ICU for 4 months after a car accident. Another husband got a bullet that hit his spine and now is having pain. We prayed for them and talked with them.

Diarrea

On a side note, I got diarea. I think it is because of the cheese that I ate.

Fellowship

The Iglesia Nueva Jerusalem have their fellowships on Saturday nights. We (Kenny, Alison, Toby and I) lead worship. After that Pastor Stanley preached about "Walking with Christ" and what does that mean; what is the right attitude; how much effort someone puts in it; what sacrifices one must put on it. It was a great sermon and Stanley worked very hard for it. Stanley gave an invitation after his sermon and eight people raised their hands to rededicate themselves to God. After that we mingle and talked.

Travel to Barquisimeto

Hi All

We departed from Caracas at 7:15am to take a bus to Barquisimeto. This is the picture in front of the church in Caracas

Photobucket

The bus ride took 6 hours. We stopped here in the middle of the trip

Photobucket

When we arrived at Barquisimeto we were greeted by two of their brothers.

They tooks us to this mall and we ate Venezuelan food

We also went to a store to get some underware and some shirts.

Then we visited the church and they treated us for dinner cooked by the sister's. I say that I had one of the best chicken for a long time (these ones are patio, free roaming). They were tough but the taste is incomparable.

After that we had a sharing time were we share about our church history and organization. They had a lot of questions about how that knowledge will apply to them. The most pressing issue is that they seem to lack a vision of where their church is going. They have been in existence for 17 years and things are always the same year to year. Pastor Stanley, Dr Wan and Leo shared some very helpful insights about what to do.

For my part, I had some time with their youth which consist of 3 guys and one girls. They want to learn to play worship music well. They were very excited that Kenny and I can help them refine their skills. We are having a session on Wednesday. Hopefully this will turn out fruitful to them.
