Visitation to 亞海

In the afternoon on the 3rd day, Edith, YK, Alison and Leo went with Keung (Barquisimeto’s church leader) to visit a young man called 亞海 who is a new Christian. Like most Chinese immigrant here, 亞海and his family is from恩平, a county about 60 miles from Guangzhou. 6 months ago, he was injured at the spiral cord by gun shot in a robbery at his Chinese BBQ shop. He was paralyzed on both legs. Physical Therapy has not helped so far. At times, his 2 knees are so painful that no pain killer can help. Due to lack of movement, his leg muscles have shrunk to ½ of the original size. We can tell he is very discouraged as he lies down mostly. Other than listening to him and his family, we do not really know how to provide much more words of encouragement. The following hand-written hymn was posted in front of the bed on the 2nd floor of the store where he is living now. When Keung sang the song, we were moved to see that 亞海sang along softly, filled with emotion. The words of the hymn “My Lord looked after me” is an encouragement to him and to all of us. At the end, we held hands and pray together asking God’s mercy for this brother of Christ.

Leo,

Thank you for sharing about Ah Hoi.
I am including a link to the Joni and Friends website.

You know about Joni Eareckson Tada who became a paraplegic at the age of 17 after severing her spinal cord from a diving accident. Her ministry is wonderful and I'm sure that there is something there for Ah Hoi.
Check it out.
