Worship

Happy Mother's Day

I felt a lot better today. After a good night sleep and some Imodioum, I am starting to get back to normal. Today we lead the entire worship service at the "Iglesia Nueva Jerusalem." We walked to church early in the morning where we had a devotion time together. Toby shared with us a passage about asking anything in prayer. We had a great discussion and everybody shared. After that we practice for worship. We stayed at church basically the whole day.

Around noon they brought us food and invited us to eat at the roof top. They have a canopy and they surrounded the building edge with a fence to make a large outdoor area for fellowship and it was really nice. The breeze make it cool and view was spectacular. Very nice place to sit around and talk. Daniel finally arrived and I was so glad to see him any my luggage. I was finally able to have a new set of clothes.

Their worship service starts at 3:00pm and then it is followed with a Sunday School and Youth fellowship. I think we did pretty good leading songs. I think the response was very good and people sang enthusiastically. You-Kin and Allison gave their testimonies and I was their translator. I have to say that being a translator is very difficult job, specially since I am not as quick with my Spanish as before (I tend to be slow to remember the words). After that, Pastor got up and spoke. His message was basically a gospel message and it was a very good message. He gave the invitation at the end of his message for people to accept Christ. Praise God, there were 8 people who raised their hands. Afterwards we invited them to come forward so that we can pray for them, but only one lady came. But anyways, we do need to pray for these new believers and hope that they learn their ways to Christ. I have to say that the place was packed and we were so glad that so many people came and had a chance to hear the gospel.

They also had a special Mother's Day service. They gave gift to all the mothers and had some desserts afterward. We had a great time talking to people and getting to know them. A 亞海 came also and Pastor had a time to visit him. I did not get a chance to talk to him but I know that he was one of the persons who raised his hand.

I joined the youth fellowship which was very simple. They sang songs without instruments and in their song books were full of Cantonese Songs. In fact the whole program was done in Cantonese! I was so impressed on how these kids as so good in Cantonese. In fact there was one girl who was not that good but she made the effort to speak anyways. Charlie lead us in an ice breaking game and the he lead us in devotion. We had an excellent discussion about "What is sin?" We had three visitors and one of them was very open. Pastor shared too and I was glad he was there, because he helped a lot as a counselor. That facilitated the discussion in the right way but at the same time it was very open and free. This group has great dynamics and they are very open to each other.

The church leaders treat us for dinner at the "Lucky Star" restaurant. We have three tables and we spread around and intermixed so that we have a better chance to know each other. We had a great discussion on how husbands need to woo their wives. Dr Wan was very bold to say things like that but it was very helpful because we all need to do this to make our wives happy. Food came kind of slow but that gave us time to get to know them and talk.

We ended the day back in the hotel with a debriefing meeting. Dr Wan is tough and he is not afraid to say things that need to be done better. But we appreciate and respect his wisdom and advice so that we can improve. Overall, it was a hectic day but Praise God for the 8 new souls in Christ.

Hi Vincent,

It is nice to know that you are back to normal. I am glad that Daniel arrived safely with your luggage.

Back in the Austin Headquarter, we had a wonderful Mother's day celebration as well. Thanks for your preparation and help with the Cantonese Youth, they did pretty good in the presentation. See the following video.

I will just keep this link active for 2 weeks so that some parents can also watch it..After that, I will remove this..

The Song presentation from the Husbands also acceptable, the song is a little bit challenging to sing but Raymond and Roland did an excellent job.. All other husbands also had an excellent time during practice and presentation. We all enjoy the fellowship together.

May God continue to get everyone in the team strength to do HIS work and pray for the unity of the team.

Don't know what happened to my comment that I entered earlier. Anyway just want the team know that the whole cantonese congregation prayed for you all in the monring worship yesterday. Thank you so much for the detailed report. It is almost like we are there. Thank you Vincent for your thought in the Mother's Day program. The brothers did an excellent job. It was certainly more than what Joey described as "acceptable". All the ladies were impressed. :-)

Also want to share what Pastor Walton preached yesterday. We are to live our lives fully aware of the presence of God each day.

May God continue to bless your work in Venezuela.
